SPORT - the most successful year ever for KA !

The Winning Team with Coach Neville Port

The highlight was undoubtedly the U14 boys badminton team. Last year the boys came 5th—this year they were runners up. Tom Ackland, Nick Dwyer, Ian Stubbs, Josh Vallis and reserve Stuart Law played well and deserved their 2nd place.

Netball teams were successful with 2 teams reaching the district finals and the talented U16 team triumphing over Ansford in the final.

Judo has become a focus sport since its introduction last September and Aiden Johnson, Zoe Zimmerman, Georgina Johnson and Mike Ball must take great pleasure in knowing that they are National Schools Champions for 2003. Coach Kathryn Purnell has done a fine job.

Karate under the watchful eye of former KA student Paul Hacker has developed with many students gaining belts.

Soccer teams have again been successful with Y9 and Y11 teams winning the Dorset School Trophy and KA winning the overall cup for the best school. Y10 have reached the final stages of the County Cup as well as the final of the district cup - both due to be played next term. Y7 also are in the final stages of the district competition with a fine performance against Holyrood.

Congratulations to Robyn Cassidy & Becky David who represented Somerset in the SW Cross Country Championships in Exeter.

Lee Jae Bok (International Badminton Coach) spent three days at KA. The sporting experience was excellent and the teaching style well worth observing. Lee Jae Bok also spent time working with members of the community.
