Pupils and Staffing
We have approximately 280 mainstream pupils on roll, organised in 10 classes, as well as 11 children in a Language Resource Base, who come from across the local area. This base caters for children with severe expressive and/or receptive language disorders, and has a Speech Therapist attached.
Our talented teaching staff is ably supported within the classroom by a highly experienced and enthusiastic team of Teaching Assistants and Lunchtime Supervisors. A small, but hard working, administrative team support the Headteacher in the smooth running of the school and its finances, and provide advice and help for parents. Our Caretaker and Cleaners take pride in ensuring that Milford Infants' School is a clean and attractive environment for all members of the school community.
We all care deeply about our school and the well being of our pupils. |
Buildings
Our classrooms are bright and airy, and are grouped around an area of patio, terracing and playground, where children are able to enjoy supervised use of a range of outdoor play equipment. Indoors, the hall has a warm and cosy Flotex floor to provide a comfortable area for PE and Dance lessons, and whole school activities. We have a well stocked Library area, and were proud to open our newly built IT Suite in January 2004. The children look forward eagerly to their lessons on the computers! In addition, every classroom has an up-to-date PC, three of which are networked to the National Grid for Learning, and we have four interactive whiteboards.

Ethos and Curriculum
Our school is lively and forward-looking, and we recognise the value of first-hand experience in learning. We aim to provide a happy working atmosphere, where children can develop respect for themselves and for each other, a personal sense of responsibility and initiative.
Our aim throughout the school is to develop the whole child mentally, physically, socially and morally. We plan the curriculum carefully using the many resources available to teachers, including curriculum guidelines, games, books, computers, video and audio recordings, and outside visitors.
We strive to develop the children's thirst for knowledge. |
Parents
We encourage parental participation in the life and work of our school, and a positive attitude towards teacher/parent relationships is an important feature.
We have a supportive Governing Body, three of whom are parents of present pupils. We are also strongly supported by our parents' group, "Friends of Milford Infants' School", who organise fundraising events, and assist with many school activities and occasions.
We value the role that parents play in the life of our school. |
